• WANDERLUST

    Location: Dubai, UAE

    Design Director: Raya Ani

    Company Name: RAW-NYC Architects

    Category: Installation

    Year: 2015

1971 is a multi-functional design space dedicated to exhibition, display and discussion on all forms of contemporary design ranging from graphic, furniture to interior as well as interactive design and new technologies.

RAW-NYC’s installation at the zero exhibit inaugural exhibition continues to show the firm’s dedication towards sustainability, innovation and thought provoking design.

The installation inspires a sense of infinity and wanderlust not only through the use of an enclosed space with mirrored walls that reflect and refract perception of space, but also through the reuse of recycled materials from RAW-NYC’s cityscape stand. The use of these clear plastic bottles to mimic shapes inspired from botany comment on the ability to give materials a second life through up cycling. The journey through the space evokes a dreamlike feeling through the use of translucent motion that weaves the journey through past use with future possibility, distorting object function and time.
