ACROSS & OVER is an experiential architectural concept, which takes into account the importance of the physical and multi-sensory experience of the public in comprehending the exhibited materials.  This approach offers unique opportunities to rethink the relationships between the contexts and contents of the exhibition and seeks to create a dialogue between the content and the public. In summary, ACROSS & OVER aims to create dynamic spaces that “unfold” the curatorial “vision” of the NPUAE’s (National pavilion of UAE) and take the public through a unique journey through the layers of UAE’s rich history, remarkable development of the present and pioneering visions for the future.

The title of the proposed exhibit ACROSS & OVER derives its meaning from the following concepts. The term ACROSS defines as a movement across a flat area while the term OVER is defined as a movement over something with height. In the context of architecture, the term ACROSS signifies a built environment and development characterized by horizontal expansion while OVER reflects a built environment and development that is characterized by a vertical expansion. The two concepts combined reflect the UAE’s nomadic origin that is characterized by constant movement. It also symbolizes the UAE’s modern achievements signifying a leap into the future.
