Goodrich is a leading multi-industry company with three business segments of aerospace, performance materials and engineered industrial products.
Perkins & Will was commissioned to design their new corporate headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. The 115,000 s.f. project includes the following specialty spaces: executive offices, boardroom conference center, training room, video conferencing computer / server room, and full service cafeteria.
P&W helped identify an existing office building that had just been developed as a speculative property. It offered immediate availability and sufficient space for long term requirements. A lease was negotiated and P&W began the fast track assignment. The overall project goal was to bring together all three Goodrich’s business segments into one facility. Perkins & Will accomplished this by locating each business on a separate dedicated floor within the six floor building. The firm’s aspirations to be, act, and think like one company and to increase synergy among the businesses was achieved by connecting three of the six floors with an atrium and interconnecting stair. All conference and reception areas are adjacent to the atrium and stair, thus fostering communication and opportunity. A high degree of finish, architectural woodwork, and fine furnishings are used throughout all of the interior spaces, creating a truly egalitarian environment of the highest quality.
