PS 59 School

In the dense surroundings of midtown Manhattan, PS 59 houses students from pre-kindergarten through the fifth grade. Its design, however, endeavors to establish a sense of community amidst a busy neighborhood. The sculpted exterior expression creates a sense of identity and scale and for the kids, making the building a recognizable landmark.

The facade is composed of pre-fabricated elements that are inspired by Origami (visual and sculptural representation defined primarly by the folding of the medium).
